Staying Hyped With Mikey: Smacking You Down While Going In Raw

Did you miss us? No time for foreplay I am afraid. Bite down on the pillow because we're Smacking you Down as Mikey Goes In Raw. WWE Monday Night Raw January 2, 2016

Alright, I'm ready to agree with pundits that Smackdown is the better show. And was way better when they did it right with Talking Smack coming on right after it ended.

-----------------

Raw starts well and ends well.

Everything else is just a slog of filler to get through.

Recaps galore, the Cruisers that I still don't care much about, Roman Reigns continuing to hold the U.S. Championship for no apparent reason.

Bleh.

-----------------

And about Roman Reigns vs. Chris Jericho...

There is no logical reason for Jericho's DQ ploy to NOT have worked, except that they're just fucking with us now.

They're teasing Jericho getting his last unwon belt again and again just to fuck with us.

------------------

But anyway. If we could have a wrestling show built around Owens, Jericho, Rollins, and Enzo & Cass, that would be the thing.

Reigns too I guess. But as a heel.

That would be the Raw I'd want to watch.

------------------

So of course I bitch about Raw, and they tease me with Taker coming back.

You teases, WWE.

Ok the Kevin Owens Show sign head guy is funny.

See? The show is ending strong, like I said.

This final segment with Owens, Jericho, Goldberg, and Paul Heyman as a surprise guest is awesome.

Why can't the rest of the show be like that?

Well, this is definitely an "everyone in the pool" final segment, with Reigns and Strowman coming out.

Probably the idea. Sounds like we might see the whole locker room show up. 'Cuz Royal Rumble.

Nevermind. No full locker room emptying out.

Too bad. Cliched or not, that would've been great.

I'm glad they're finally letting Dean Ambrose defend his gal's honor.

Perfect excuse for Miz and Dean to feud.

Awesome set up for Ziggler and Kalisto to feud. Ziggler just unloads on him for trying to help "save" him from Corbin.

Ziggler's underdog story is well-traveled; even so, he hasn't had many moments where he just lets someone have it.

And Ziggler follows that up by beating on Kalisto's "friend" Apollo Crews.

Rampaging Dolph is the best Dolph.

The ladies are still doing the La Luchadora thing.

They made us think the mystery woman was Alexa Bliss.

But then it wasn't.

Definitely one of those "roll with it, we need time filled" story ideas.

Ooo. AJ Styles playing the "he's a Hollywood part-timer, never was indie" angle on Cena again.

Even for scripted, that's gotta bug John a little.

AJ never should've been a babyface when he first came to WWE.

The man can spit the venom.

Cena drops a "punk ass bitch" line on AJ.

Yeah, both these guys' promos have some truth and real emotion behind them.

That whole contract signing stare down between Cena and AJ felt bigger than anything on Raw has felt since Goldberg and Brock.

And now Corbin's coming in. The push for him is real.

That slap from Meryse to Renee Young felt damned painful.

Give her credit. I hate Meryse. She's doing her job well.

I doubt Ambrose will take the IC Championship tonight.

But it'd be nice. Always love to root for Dean, and of course Miz is never not fun to root against.

....Did Dean really win the belt?

I don't trust you WWE. You're going to pull a fast one again!

Ok, show's over, and Dean still has the belt.

I guess it's safe to say he actually won it, lol.

Great episode.

Also loved the Wyatts and American Alpha staredown, more Nikki vs Nattie, and even Carmella with Ellsworth.

Smackdown is solid.
